Without love we will just be left
with the gruel of religion
But nothing is more delicious than
to keep in step
With a spirit whose purpose is love
The greatest unkindness we can do
to God
Is to refuse to believe He love us
Knowing God can be dangerous
But abandoning the God we know is
suicide
Belief in God is not so much like
the child’s comfort blanket
It is like the child’s nightmare
When people describe the God they
don’t believe in
He sounds more like the Satan
The sinful human mind is like a
perpetual factory of idols
We are all constantly distorting
the nature of God in our minds
Making the father of light out
To be less than He is, and devilish
This tendency is the very source of
all spiritual coldness
But God is love; He can’t even be
hated
Whether we love Jesus, serve Allah
or hug trees
Mercy is the outworking in fallen
time and the history of the action of a God
Whom love of the other is central
to His Being
But the human family is torn apart
By loveless-ness and malice
