FAKABA

INTRODUCTION
Philosophy is an all-encompassing discipline. The vastness of philosophy helps man in his day to day activity. The knowledge of philosophy, be it in whatever form, is essential to man; it prepares man and accompanies him on his journey of life. Right from the very moment of birth, man possesses a philosophy of life, till the time he breaths his last. Philosophy articulates its amazement by formulating questions. This is with regards to the clarification of doubts. Philosophy in a way is a foundation for different life styles.
This paper presents a sort of debate, conforming or opposing the belief of Montaigne and the Elders that: “to philosophize is to learn how to die’. This belief or position is mad on a particular ground. At the course of my discussion/ debate, I would state my own views with regards to the position; affirming or denying the position
CONCLUSION
“To philosophize is to learn how to die”. Regarding this position, one needs to understand the meaning of death and the context in which Montaigne and the Elders used it. Montaigne contextualizes his position in the sense that philosophy helps one to transcend death as a pessimistic phenomenon.
I agree with Montaigne and the Elders, being clearly convinced with the understanding of his work that it is appropriate to asset that “to philosophize is to learn how to die”. Philosophy conquers many fears of life and it equally helps us to transcend phenomenon, especially death as a reality of life.
